ELVIS has left the building
... or "Our Elvis has left the Clarinda Park Horses farm.
Yesterday, Sunday, 26th of February 2017 was the Australian Pacing Gold (APG) Sydney yearling sale. It was conducted in Inglis Newmarket Sale Complex located at 1 Young Street in Randwick.
ELVIS was in the parade ring about half past 3 in the afternoon. He was the 133rd horse to parade in the auction ring.
And when it was time, Matthew Dwyer paraded Elvis in the auction ring.
The hammer went down with $11,000 and Elvis went home with the new owner Rickie Alchin from the Rickie Alchin Harness Racing Stables had the last bid on him.
18 yearlings (out of 201) in the auction were sired by A Rocknroll Dance of Alabar Farms with 10 colts and 8 fillies. And ELVIS was one of the first crop of yearlings sired by A Rocknroll Dance.
Clarinda Park Horses also handled and prepared the yearling of Eugene Bennett on Lot 320. This colt was by Art Major and Esther Jane, and got sold for $15,000.
Its not (yet) the year of A Rocknroll Dance.
Buyers, owners, and trainers were not really ready to take the risk on first season sires. They were after the big names such as Bettors Delight, Art Major, Somebeachsomewhere, Mach Three, and the likes.
The highest bid was $245,000, a colt by stallion Bettors Delight and mare Lady Euthenia, a 10-year-old mare with more than $400k of prizemoney.
Summary
A total of 201 yearlings were (supposed to be) in APG Yearling Sale in Sydney.
- 161 yearlings were sold,
- 40 yearlings were passed-in from the bids & offers,
- 16 yearlings were withdrawn from the auction.
- 118 yearlings were colts, and 83 yearlings were fillies
- Average sale of 145 yearlings was $25,103.
The horse breeding farm of Clarinda Park Horses is being managed by Tony Dumesny. With years and years of experience in the horse harness industry as trainer, driver, stud master, importer, breeder, & harness club committeeman, he oversees the handling and taking care of the mares, foals, and stallion. He was hands-on during the days when the Dumesny family was still operating the Ruby Vale Stables in Alectown, NSW.
