This time, the team of Clarinda Park Horses dropped by at the Shepparton Harness Broodmare & Mixed Stock horse sale, not as a vendor, but as a prospect buyer.
Tony Dumesny started talking to the vendors/preparers of the horses as he already had his eyes on a number of horses (for himself and for others)
While on the other hand, I tried to practice on looking at the horses first, and look at the catalogue for the breeding.
We ended up having Chip And Gale as part of our fleet of broodmares. "Gale" is not a young broodmare, but in her racing career she won 61 races and $563,343.
There were other broodmares as well that we liked but we didn't have any logistics to bring them to Parkes.
I could not comment on the over-all result of the sale as to whether both vendors and buyers were happy, but what i noticed is that a number of the horses were sold in prices that I would not be happy about as a vendor. Broodmares in-foal were sold to a price half of the service/semen fee... But then again, if vendors were not happy, they could have passed-in to the offer.
If we had a horse float (and maybe if we had a good result last yearling sale 2017), we could have spent more.
Another season is about to end, and another one to begin. We were already finalising which of our broodmares will be served, and to which stallions.
A number of mares are already booked to foal and serve at Clarinda Park Horses.
We have 2 stallions standing at the farm:
(1) John Street North
But contact us if you would want to avail our breeding/foaling services.
